Audience type All Public

A multifaceted artist and perpetual traveler, Leonora Carrington crossed borders, genres and eras with boundless curiosity. Born in Lancashire, England, in 1917, she traveled from Florence to Paris, from the South of France to Spain, all the way to Mexico, where her work found a unique resonance. Between surrealism, mythology and esotericism, her creation reflects a world in perpetual metamorphosis, where human and animal, masculine and feminine intersect.

This exhibition, the first devoted exclusively to her work in Italy and France, presents Carrington as a "Vitruvian Woman": a total artist, exemplary in terms of harmony and innovation. The tour, organized both chronologically and thematically, highlights her passions: Italian classical art discovered in Florence, the influence of the Renaissance, her Celtic and post-Victorian roots and her immersion in French surrealism. Each room offers surprises and symbols to decipher, for those who know how to look carefully.

This exhibition reveals the legacy of an explorer of both mind and world, always in search of new forms of knowledge.
