Niki de Saint Phalle: a feminist before her time? Women artists of the New Realism

This talk will take Niki de Saint Phalle's career and early feminist commitment as a starting point for re-examining the place of women in New Realism. Starting with her work, the talk will extend the reflection to other female artists of the 1960s, often relegated to the background, and will question their place, their views and their contributions in an artistic constellation dominated by male figures.
